DUPUY DE LOME - Rouge- 2017 Bandol, FRANCE
This Bandol beauty is a blend of 70% Mourvèdre, 20% Grenache, and 10% Cinsault. It is lightly floral with soft, white peaches on the nose. The mid-palate is bright, crisp and light, with fresh, ripe peach and strawberry flavors, and a white pepper note on the finish. I liken the rosés of Bandol to what should be considered the "Grand Cru" of Provençal rosés. Their quality is unmatched and usually their prices follow suit. However, three years ago, I went to great lengths, literally down a very long and winding dirt road near this Mediterranean town, to find this small vineyard. What I found there exceeded all of my expectations; finally a reasonably priced, gorgeous Bandol rosé.
