Roc des Anges was founded in February 2001. A Carignan vine planted on a vein of quartz is behind the origin of the name. A white soil surrounded by black schist: The Lieu-dit is called "Roc Blanc", which translates to White Rock.
Angels were chosen to symbolize this vein of quartz and Roc Blanc became Roc des Anges.
This wine is harvested from 3.5 hectares of Carignan planted in 1903.
Carignan is definitely a warm, dry climate grape variety perfectly suited to fill typical southern wines with harmony and elegance.
On the lean and well drained schist soils of the Roc des Anges, Carignan finds a tailor-made terroir: fruit, spice, fleshiness, character, and minerality are beautifully expressed.
Aeration of the wine is essential to fully appreciate the aromatic bouquet.
