Appellation: Costières de Nimes
Varieties: 80% Syrah, 20% Grenache
Estate: The vineyard is found between Nimes and the Camargue, the vineyards of the area of La Cadenette are grouped around the farmhouse on 60 hectares of a pebble soil brought by the Rhone. Sometimes the Mistral sweeps and cleans the vineyard, but often it is a scorching sun that heats the stones and vines.
A cadenette was a braid of hair that infantry soldiers in the 18th century wore on each side of the face. Now, it is also the name of a farmhouse built in 1860, so called because of its knotted branches of fruit trees.
Tasting Notes: The quality of the fruit depends on the quality of the wine, so close attention is paid to the health status and vineyard yields. After harvest, the grapes are put into tanks separated by variety and plot. They use their expertise to extract the fruit intensity of flavor and color during fermentation.
After the winter, once the wines have rested, the assembly work can begin. The Costières de Nîmes red is made of Syrah and Grenache.
Castle Cadenette is deep red. Fruit ripening was carried away, giving a powerful wine with pronounced aromas of licorice, black fruit or prunes. It is ideal served with grilled meat or cold cuts.
