Pieropan's estate covers 40 hectares of vineyard situated on the stony hills of the Soave Classico zone. The Pieropan family has been producing wines in Soave since the 1860s. Indeed, they were the first to bottle a wine with the name Soave on the label, in the early 1930s. Nino Pieropan took over from his father in 1970 and was the first to make a single vineyard wine, Calvarino, in 1971. Nino's two sons, Andrea and Dario, now work with him running the estate. In 1999, the Pieropan family bought a property in the Valpolicella production area and planted eight hectares with vines, now increased to 20.

The soil is clay-basalt and volcanic in origin. Yields are low and the vines south facing. The fruit come from hillside vineyards (100- 300 m above sea level) in the heart of the Soave classico area. They grapes of Garganega and Trebbiano di Soave (no relation to its prolific Tuscan namesake) are grown without the use of pesticides or chemicals.

Tasting Notes:

"On the nose there is a touch of almond with gentle summertime notes. Good intensity on the palate, with a nutty base overlaid with citrus, pear and mandarin. I recently tasted the 2014 vintage and it showed an evolution towards a more honeyed and aromatically complex wine. This is definitely a wine that can age gracefully. Flexible, affordable and ageable". (Decanter)

Soave Classico is a perfect wine for a hot day with food or without food. The wine is dry, fresh, crispy and very expressive with fragant notes of dry white flowers, citrus and honey. The palate is rounded and clean with notes of nectarines and a touch of marzipan. Soave Classico is a very gastronomic wine that pairs perfectly with grilled seafood, chicken, pork dishes and sausages.
