Jean-Yves Vantey and Isabelle‘s life is like something from a fairy tale. They had a crush on this wonderful little domain nestled at the bottom of the valley south of Meursault. The place used to be small fry but now plays with the big boys of Burgundy. Coming from different walks of life, they dropped off their luggage in Sampigny-les-Maranges in 1989. In 1989 they purchased their first hectare of vineyard and today this couple in their fourties owns 6 hectares including recently acquired red and white crus.
It was in 2008 that they adopted a biodynamic approach. Here the highly-respected Pinot Noir receives the utmost care: horse ploughing, neither insecticides nor weedkillers, wild yeasts, litttle filtration and needless to say that sulphur is kept to a bare minimum. The wines are matured for about 10 months in barrels of several wines, which impart minimum woody character to the wines.
The Marange Pinot Noir is bright and lively, with gentle tanins. The fresh berries quickly turn to some pink or white pepper spices and leave you a final that makes you want a little more.
